Toi Ki Tua is a kaupapa
Māori internship programme opening doors for Māori tertiary students to step
into high-value professional careers across the Bay of Plenty.
The programme is aimed at tauira Māori who whakapapa to, or reside in,
the Bay of Plenty and are studying toward a bachelor’s degree or higher level
of study. Tauira will have the opportunity to
- Undertake a
paid 10-week internship, gaining professional work experience
- Be part of a
cohort of Māori students who are also gaining professional experience
across the kiwifruit sector
- Be supported
by a kaupapa Māori framework, participating in preparation workshops with
the wider student cohort
- Gain a broad
view of the sector and the opportunities available through site tours,
while being able to connect to industry leaders

Tupu Toa aims to provide
professional opportunities to Māori and Pacific people in corporate, government
and community organisations through their programmes and pathways.
Their programmes aim to address the persistent inequalities facing our
communities and disrupt intergenerational disadvantage. They work to
reduce entry and advancement barriers which are biased against Māori and
Pacific communities and support organisations in successfully recruiting and
onboarding Māori and Pacific peoples.

and Pacific professionals already working

Manawa
Ora Rangatahi is a FREE 12 week programme for Rangatahi aged 16 –
24 years, helping them move into the next phase of their lives, the work force,
or into further training or education. They aim to create positive outcomes for
rangatahi, their whānau and the communities they live in, by offering
consistent caring services, tangible tools and instilling values of higher
education, career aspirations and life success.
The course covers:
- WORK SKILLS,
software skills, CV creation, interview experience and driver licensing
- SELF CARE, hygiene,
personal care, mental/emotional/spiritual, self-worth and holistic
well-being tools
- LIFE SKILLS,
budgeting/finance, communication, resilience, cooking, cleaning and
horticulture
- RECONNECTION
TO LAND/WATERWAYS/FORESTS, Hunting, fishing, gathering kai and rongoa
- INDUSTRY
SITE TOURS, Industry career options with site visits to more than 10
places
- INTER-PERSONAL
TOOLS, Tools to become a healthy contributor to self, family, community
and society
- CAREER
MAPPING, Mapping individual pathways in to work, training or further
education
- INSPIRATIONAL
TRIPS, Weekly offsite and/or overnight trips to inspire and ignite
