A job in the Hospitality industry is the perfect choice if you enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life, are looking for freedom and mobility to travel and continue building your skill set and want career progression.
The Restaurant Association has partnered with the Ministry of Social Development to create the Hospo Start programme, which introduces newbies in the industry to the basics of hospitality.
Through Hospo Start, The Restaurant Association train participants over four weeks to ready them for work (or back into work) in the Hospitality industry, with the overall goal of gaining paid employment, upon completion. The training provided is employer driven and has been created in consultation with the industry and it’s needs. Course participants will gain valuable insight into a career in the industry and key skills for entering employment and further education in the sector. The Restaurant Association has designed the course to reflect the key skill set required for hospitality job seekers and the programme is delivered in a combination of practical and hands-on learning.
What will learners get?
Participants will be provided with:
- An introduction to Hospitality
- Customer Service training
- Food Safety training
- Barista training
- Food Preparation training
- Beverage Service practice
- Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ)
- Hospitality First Aid Certificate
Participants will graduate with a great attitude, basic skills and a desire for a career in hospitality, as well as having learned about and experienced a variety of roles in the food and beverage and kitchen sectors.

The main focus of the Hospo Start programme is to develop students and job seekers who have the right attitude about working and the drive to learn, as well as basic hospitality skills. Upon completion participants will be actively assisted to find employment and support will continue in the form of pastoral care and mentorship, during the first 3 months of employment.
