Throughout our "Education Hero" campaign, we are showcasing great students from tourism or hospitality courses all around New Zealand. In this case study, you will learn about Hadlee from QRC Queenstown.
We chatted to Hadlee about why she chose to study a Diploma of Adventure Tourism at QRC Queenstown:
Why did you choose to study Adventure Tourism at QRC?
I chose this course because of the opportunities it can provide me during and after my studies.
What is your career aspiration?
When I graduate I want to go into the international tourism market and help people plan trips that they want to do.
What you’re enjoying most about your studies?
I really enjoyed my nine-month, fully-paid internship at EcoZip on Waiheke Island, as a Zipline Guide. A highlight was getting to zipline everyday and meeting pretty cool people too. I also am happy that I'm taking courses that I actually like doing and the subjects are pretty cool.
What you’re enjoying most about your student life?
I've made a lot of friends and there's so much do to outside in my free time in Queenstown.
How do your friends and family feel about your study choices?
My parents are pretty happy that I've found something that I will actually like doing everyday! And that it could take me to some pretty cool places around the world.
What is your top tip for choosing a course and tertiary school?
Choose somewhere that feels like home, with courses you know you'll enjoy and where you can make pretty cool friends.
