Student Q&A: Evie from PIHMS
We chatted to Evie about why she chose to study a Bachelor of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Management at Pacific International Hotel Management School in New Plymouth:
Why was PIHMS your school of choice?
Hospitality is a big passion for me and I love being able to connect with guests. PIHMS seemed like a great university to be able to expand my knowledge on the industry, as well as being able to teach me how to be a great manager.
What are your career aspirations?
I want to travel the world an experience all i can whilst working in top hotels.
What you’re enjoying most about your studies?
I am enjoying the course content along with the way the course is set up. It allows me to learn the theoretical knowledge then move into the operational side of the hotel and implement the knowledge I have gained. I also enjoy the two paid placement that I get to complete. It means I get to work in the industry then return and learn about the theory behind the experiences I had.
What you’re enjoying most about your student life?
I have made so many friends during my study that i can connect with, hang out with and we can help each other out when needed. PIHMS also has a student run association that hosts lots of fun events and parties.
How do your friends and family feel about your study choices?
My family and friends are super supportive of my choice and love to visit me as New Plymouth is a great place to study and explore.
What is your top tip for choosing a course and university?
My top tip is to choose a course that suits you and one that opens up job opportunities for you when you finish studying.
