Student Q&A: Tim from QRC Queenstown
We chatted to Tim about why he chose to study a Diploma of Hospitality Management at QRC Queenstown:
Why did you choose to study Hospitality Management at QRC?
I chose this course because there’s so many transferable skills in both hospitality and business that I can learn. Plus, I can immerse myself in the local industry here in Queenstown.
What is your career aspiration?
I hope to get an internship within a luxury lodge, so that I can learn more about the in's-and-out's of hotel operations. After I graduate, I hope to work my way up in in luxury lodges and eventually become a general manager.
What you’re enjoying most about your studies?
I love the support from the staff we have and the
application of hospitality and business in our classes. No matter what we're studying - wine, food and beverage, rooms division, business studies etc. - we're able to see how this all applies to the world around us.
What you’re enjoying most about your student life?
I enjoy living at the QRC lodge the most. It’s been great to get to know everyone, students and staff. Plus, because we’re in Queenstown I get to go mountain biking and hiking on my days off.
How do your friends and family feel about your study choices?
My parents were super supportive of my choice.
What is your top tip for choosing a course and tertiary provider?
My top tip is just put yourself out there, say yes to
everything, don’t let an opportunity pass you by and just make the most of it!
